I'm not even sure what type of flower this is, that is why I entitled it "Black & White Flower" All I know is that it can be found in my backyard, so if anyone can tell me what flower this is by the picture, please do so.

I love the grainy texture in this image, and the composition you chose.
I think I'd have to see it in color, and at a wider angle before I could tell you what it was.....sorry, I'm no help :(
thanks, though I'm sure the texture doesn't help when trying to identify the flower.
I think it might be an orange blossom. If it is, this photo is much larger than the actual flower. Georgia O'keefe enlarged her flowers much the same way.

Re the flight deck on the Hornet - that superstructure would seem small in comparison to a modern Nimitz-class carrier!
Orange blossoms are white with an small orange center, if I'm not mistaken.

If the flower is the same size as pictured, and the petals are fleshy, and there is no discernible fragrance, then I think this is a camelia. We have a gorgeous old camelia on one side of our house, white flowers. It's 15 feet tall now. Our neighbors have one that is the dark pink variety. When I first moved to Oregon from Nevada I cut some on my walk to work and brought them into the office asking co-workers what they were.
