Rose of Sharon

This is a photo I took of one of the many Rose of Sharon flowers surrounding my patio. Rose of Sharens are a very common and beautiful flower on Long Island, and always seem to attract hundreds of bees. The flower has so much sweet-smelling pollen that the bees usually overdose, and I find them covered in pollen and stumbling drunkly through the air (if one can stumble drunkly through the air) back to their hive near my attic.

I like how it's as if this flower is emerging from the shadows.....

It looks sort of like a swamp rose that I've seen around here before....

Great capture :)

I've got a black and white-ish photo on my blog today, I kind of think that subconsciously, you were my inspiration!

this is a beautiful photo Arnie.
I like the changes to Danish poet as well. I will be following them carefully. You are always doing something interesting Arnold.

You've sorta answered a mystery with this one. In my little town there used to be a restaurant called The Rose of Sharon. I always wondered about the name, and now I imagine that the owner's name was Sharon and she must have lived in your area at some time. We never dined there because it was a seven-course affair that seemed over the top.
